403 PERMISSION_DENIED after project restoration – manual review requested

Hello,

My Gemini API project was restored by Google Cloud Trust & Safety on July 25, 2026, but all Gemini Developer API requests still return:

403 PERMISSION_DENIED — Your project has been denied access. Please contact support.

I confirmed that the API key belongs to the restored project. A minimal REST request asking Gemini to reply only “OK” also returns the same 403 error.

Project name: Default Gemini Project
Project ID: gen-lang-client-06608218..
Country: France
API endpoint: generativelanguage.googleapis.com

The project is used at very low volume for a daily industrial-news summary based only on public information. It does not perform bulk emailing, spam, phishing, or process private data.

Google Cloud Trust & Safety confirmed that the project had been restored, but the restriction still appears to remain active specifically for the Gemini Developer API.

Could a Google team member please verify whether the project restoration was fully applied and manually review the remaining restriction?

The first screenshot shows the project restoration confirmation.
The second screenshot shows that a minimal Gemini API request still returns HTTP 403 after the restoration.

Thank you.

Hello @Xavier49 ,

Getting a 403 API error response and / or seeing “Unavailable” next to your project in AI audio indicates a flag has been placed on your account. To proceed:

  1. If you’re on the free tier with no billing attached, you should consider setting up billing. In most cases this is enough to clear any flag on your account. Please note this will mean you lose your free tier quota. You should also see a banner in AI studio prompting you to set up billing.

  2. If you are on a paid tier, check for banners / error callouts in the AI Studio Projects page & the Billing page. Mostly these flags cause visible banners or other errors on these pages with concrete next steps / appeal links. You can also check the email address associated with your project for information on next steps.

Thank you for your reply.

I have checked the AI Studio Projects page and the Billing page. There is no warning banner, appeal link, or action available.

Google Cloud Trust & Safety already confirmed that project gen-lang-client-06608218.. was restored, but the Gemini Developer API still returns:

403 PERMISSION_DENIED — Your project has been denied access.

This automation is specifically intended to operate within the free tier at very low volume. Enabling paid billing is therefore not an acceptable workaround, particularly since it is not guaranteed to remove the account flag.

Could you please escalate the case for a manual review, or provide a direct appeal route for the remaining Gemini API restriction?
